This is keynote by HUJAK,
We will present some of the latest trends, interesting events, and the popular technologies happening in "The World of Java." We live in a world of accelerating and emergent changes, and we need to address them. Every day we are witnessing how many new trends become easily adopted by masses, and only a few months later hypes turn into well-established technologies that we have to start using. Less than a year ago we experienced Java 9, in the meantime, we got Java 10, and now we are already looking forward to Java 11 and 12. There is a technology hyper-progress in the field of IoT, Smart Devices, Cloud Computing, Artificial Intelligence, Virtual Reality, Robotics, Virtual Assistants, Blockchain… – and software development is responding to it. Everything is becoming "smart" – smart cars will drive us, smart ultra-fast networks will connect us, and numerous smart devices in our smart offices, smart homes, and smart cities will help us live our "smart" life. The question is – what does all that mean for us as developers? We will try to address it from the perspective of a typical developer and discuss it from a software development point of view. We will talk about our future, but we will also show what developers are mostly using and why. Once more, we will present some numbers from Croatia, EU, and the rest of the world. We cannot skip the story about skills we need to have and, even more important, various ways to get them through education and practice. Finally, we will close this keynote with details of (y)our favorite Java community – HUJAK.

Branko Mihaljević, autor
Branko Mihaljević is educator, consultant, manager, and entrepreneur, dealing with Java since 1996 and with Java EE platform since 2000. After twelve years of teaching at UNIZG's FER, where he received dipl. ing. (MSc), DSM, mr. sc., and dr. sc. (Ph.D.), a few years at Algebra and VERN', as well as seven years as a co-owner and CTO of a development company, he is currently a senior lecturer at RIT Croatia and leading his software consulting company. He gained experience as a consultant, software architect, project manager, development lead, and researcher on various projects in financial, telecom, traffic, public health, and satellite systems sectors. He is the author of numerous scientific and professional papers, conference presentations, and popular Java-related articles. He worked on many research and professional projects, as well as delivered various university courses and professional workshops, and authored many educational materials. He is the president of Croatian Java User Association (HUJAK).
Aleksander Radovan, koautor
Aleksander Radovan is currently finishing his Ph.D. at the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing, and his research interests are in areas of artificial intelligence, genetic algorithms, and robotics. He has more than 14 years of experience with Java, and he is currently employed as Java Team Lead at KING ICT. As a Senior Lecturer, he teaches at several university colleges a number of popular courses in programming and information systems, mostly based on Java and related technologies. He is the author of many educational materials and courses, mostly related to programming in Java, as well as numerous conference papers. He is also the president of the Committee for Education at Croatian Java User Association (HUJAK).
