2019 marks the 50th anniversary of Apollo 11 - arguably the most famous space achievement of the human race. Although the Apollo program is a hardware engineering marvel, we are more interested in the software side of things - and Apollo does not disappoint there either. We will take a look at three important lessons from the Apollo program, in terms of software engineering: the term software engineering itself, the important lesson on component reuse, and the lifesaving fault tolerance lesson.
